After 25 + years, the Horsemen still roared on Hilton Head at VanDer Meers tennis. 15 Horsemen joined the fun this year. What started humbly in 1987 with four noble Horsemen has grown to epic proportions .... legendary some say .... at least in our minds!

In 1986 ... or was it 1985 ... whatever... a group of rag-tag tennis players from Olympic Indoor Tennis Center in Columbus, OH got together over (too many) beers one night.
"What if..." it was asked. "we all just got up and got away for a week of down-and-dirty, no-holds-barred, rock-em-sock-em tennis?" "We want sweat, blood and tears ... we want play tennis, hit hard and dig balls until we puke!"
And so the legend of the Horsemen was born. That first year, 1986, The Horsemen left an indelible mark on Hilton Head Island ... and the Dennis Van der Meer Tennis center. Neither will ever be the same.
The original 4 horsemen ... Will, Mike, Rich and Jimi have continued to maintain the madness every year since. Our history is storied .. and the legendary exploits continue. As many as 16 other "Horsemen" have joined us through the years.
One has gone to a better place .. and his memory is with us with every wild and crazy exploit. Here's to "The Mayo". May he live in us forever.
